The Chruchyard - A poem I wrote on 28/6/09

Standing in the churchyard
Surrounded by my friends
I look all around me
My broken heart can't seem to mend.
Standing in the churchyard
Alone just like before
Standing there I wonder
If I knock will He open the door?

Do I matter
To all you people in there?
Do I matter?
Does anyone care?
Do I matter?
Do you hear my voice?
Do I matter?
Do I have a choice?

Standing in the churchyard
I feel so out of place
A hypocrite who fails
Everyday a brand new face
Standing in the churchyard
I feel so insecure
Standing in the churchyard
No longer innocent and pure

Do we matter
As the people out there?
Do we matter?
Are we worth a glancing stare?
Do we matter
To anyone at all?
Do we matter?
Do you pity us fools?

The youth of today
They stand so alone
Standing in that churchyard
All we do is moan?
Standing in the churchyard
I feel so out of place
I know, however
One day I'll finish the race

Standing in the churchyard
Its where I need to be
